The mighty Switch is four years old. So, let's give Nintendo a hand blowing out the candles on the Switch's birthday cake. Altogether now... Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you...
Nintendo Switch is Four Years Old!
No doubt there's a Super Mario 3D World Party going down at Nintendo HQ right now, as the Nintendo Switch reaches its 4th anniversary.
Released back in 2017, the handheld hybrid has done nothing but great things for Nintendo, selling almost 80 million consoles since launch, leaving it not long to go before it eclipses the sales of yet another Nintendo console; the Game Boy Advance.
Of course, the Switch Lite will account for some of those sales, and Nintendo didn't release the handheld-only version of the console until 2019.
The Switch Is a Popular Console

Birthday aside, Nintendo has even more reason to celebrate. The Switch has been the most popular console in the US for over two years, now. That is quite an impressive feat; especially when you consider the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X came out at the end of 2020.
Nintendo really has something special with its quirky little console. And that quirkiness sets it aside from other consoles that take themselves too seriously. Let's hope that the Switch's successor can pick up when this delightful console eventually leaves gamers' hands.
