You can now play PlayStation 5 games on Apple devices with your DualSense controller instead of an older DualShock controller via the latest version of PS Remote Play for iOS.
PS Remote Play Now Works With PS5 DualSense Controllers on Apple Devices
Sony has announced in a support document on the PlayStation website that the following Apple operating systems feature built-in support for DualSense Bluetooth connections:
- macOS Big Sur 11.3 for the Mac computers
- iOS 14.5 for the iPhone and iPod touch
- iPadOS 14.5 for the iPad
- tvOS 14.5 for the Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD
You'll also need the latest version of the PS Remote Play app from the App Store.
Any Apple device running iOS 12.1 or higher can play PS Remote Play games using on-screen controls. Devices running iOS 13 or higher have DualShock 4 wireless controller support via Bluetooth, and devices running iOS 14.5 or higher are able to use a DualSense wireless controller support via Bluetooth.

Some DualSense Features Are Unsupported
Once you have paired your DualSense controller with a supported Apple device, you can use it to control compatible games and applications with the wireless controller via Bluetooth. Adaptive triggers work perfectly, but there are a few caveats you should be aware of.
For starters, Sony itself notes that there is no guarantee that all supported Apple devices are compatible with your controller. In other words, certain features on the controller are unavailable when using PS Remote Play on Apple devices.
PS5 DualSense and Apple: The Fine Print
As noted by people on Reddit, tactile feedback appears to be a hit-and-miss as only basic rumbling haptic feedback works via PS Remote Play on iOS.
Generally speaking, this shouldn't be too much of a problem as many titles use haptic feedback to augment the experience. But for games that make heavy use of advanced haptics, such as Control, this feature omission could easily ruin the whole experience.

Next, the built-in microphone, headphone jack, and speaker also don't work over PS Remote Play. Again, some games depend on those features to provide a more enjoyable experience. For example, games like Returnal make innovative use of haptic feedback.
So, Is It Worth the Trouble?
Casual or average gamers who plan on using their DualSense controller to play games on Apple devices through Sony's PS Remote Play app probably won't be complaining too much about the missing features.
On the other hand, those serious about PS5 gaming should know that some PS5 games won't be able to provide the complete DualSense experience via PS Remote Play on Apple hardware.
Of course, there's nothing to stop Sony from completing the experience by implementing advanced haptics along with support for the microphone, headphone jack, and speaker in a future update to the app.
