How to Get 4TB of iCloud Storage

Apple's most expensive iCloud plan offers 2TB of storage space. This is in line with other competing services such as Google Drive and Dropbox. However, Apple has a trick up its sleeve that allows you to get even more storage out of iCloud.

In late 2020, the Cupertino-based company introduced Apple One, a single subscription plan that bundles all of Apple's services. This new addition is the key behind that extra iCloud storage. Here's what you can do if you need extra iCloud space to store massive 4K files and other data.

How to Get 4TB of iCloud Storage

Whether you're an iCloud subscriber or an Apple One subscriber who utilizes iCloud, Apple lets you stack the storage if you pay for both of these services. So, if you're paying $29.95 per month for the Apple One plan that gives you 2TB of iCloud space, you still have the option to upgrade your iCloud storage to 2TB in the Settings.

This means that for an extra $9.99 per month on top of your Apple One subscription, you can double your overall iCloud storage space to 4TB. Yes, this massive amount of storage can be shared with your family members.

If you're paying for iCloud separately, but you haven't tried Apple One yet, follow these simple instructions:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, and tap on your Apple ID at the top.
  2. Now, choose Subscriptions to find the option to get Apple One.

  3. You should see a Get Apple One message at the top. Tap on Try It Now to continue.
  4. Now, you'll be shown all the three Apple One plans along with the pricing, depending on your region. Select the Premier plan, which offers 2TB of iCloud storage, and choose Start Free Trial.

You can now begin utilizing your 4TB of iCloud space. To confirm this, head to Settings > Apple ID and find the storage limit indicated next to the iCloud option.

Is 4TB of iCloud Storage Even Necessary?

For 99% of Apple users, 4TB of iCloud storage is overkill. However, this massive amount of space may be a realistic requirement if you're a content creator who frequently records tons of 4K videos. Also, if you're someone who uses Family Sharing to share your iCloud space with five people, 2TB may not cut it.

All that being said, this isn't the only way to get more storage. If you're paying $9.99 for iCloud, you don't have to shell out another $29.95 just to get 2TB of space. Instead, you can look at third-party options like Google Drive that offer the same for a fraction of the price.
