When you spend a lot of time on the internet, it's imperative to come across inspirational quotes, exciting videos, and photos. It's not always possible to get through all of them at once. So, how do you save and organize a good link or image?
There are many apps and browser extensions to help you do this. Collect by WeTransfer is one such software that can help you save, organize, and share your content.
What Is Collect by WeTransfer?
WeTransfer's Collect application allows you to save media such as photos, playlists, or links on boards. You can create boards to organize the content and revisit them for inspiration.
Collect allows you to share good things using links. You can share boards with friends or teams for viewing and collaborating. Collect is available on mobile devices and desktop computers.
Some features are available across all platforms, while others are available only on apps. However, the cloud-based setup ensures that your work is saved and accessible across all devices.
If you don't want to install the app, then you can add the Chrome extension. In this article, we will go through the features and functionalities of the free desktop version of Collect.
Signing Up for Collect

You can sign up for a free Collect account via your social media or email credentials. However, if you have an account on WeTransfer or Paste, you don't need to create a new one for Collect.
As part of the free plan, you get up to 5GB of space for your boards and media, and you also get limited access to other software of the WeTransfer suite.

If you enjoy using the software, then at any time, you can upgrade to WeTransfer Pro.
Understanding the Layout of Collect

In the top-right panel, you can click the plus icon to add content. On the main screen, you can drag and drop any link or an image. By default, it is added to the Sort later board.
You can access your profile in the top-left panel, adjust account settings, and access help resources. Below the profile icon, you can create boards and search for them.
What Are Boards? How to Create Them
Boards are like folders for your content. You can create different boards and add photos, videos, or links to them. Every board should have a theme, with similar types of content grouped together.
But don't worry if you haven't decided yet. Whatever you add to Collect gets stored in the Sort later board. At any time, you can move the media from this board to another. The All items board contains everything that has been added to Collect.
- To create a board, click the Create a new board option.
- In the pop-up, add the name and description of the board.
- You can drop a file to the main screen or click the plus icon to upload it from your local folder.
- On the top-right panel, click the caption icon to add a meaningful note to the media.
- To transfer the media to another board, select it and click the move icon on the top-right.
- You can also download it by selecting the Download option.
- To delete the board, select it and click the vertical ellipsis. You will see the Delete board option.
Sharing Boards on Collect
By default, all the boards are private, but you can share them with your team for viewing or editing.
- To do so, select the board and click the Share button.
- Choose the permission.
- Click the Copy link option. A shareable link is generated, which can be sent to other members.

A board that is shared with only viewing permissions expires after 90 days if there is no activity. In comparison, a collaborative board with editing and viewing permissions doesn't expire for a year.
Getting the Most Out of Collect
Compared to its rival Pinterest, the features are limited on Collect. This app lacks chat functionality, a notification center, and a place to find inspiring ideas, unlike Pinterest.
The simplicity of the desktop version also makes your experience restrictive. To explore more features and make the most out of the software, use it in tandem with the mobile version.
